Europe’s Highest Volcano Mount Etna<\/strong>, in southern\nItaly<\/strong>, erupted with burst into life, spewed ash, fire, and\nspitting molten lava high into the sky. 
\nThis is 2019’s first eruption as the volcano on\nthe island of Sicily previously erupted in December 2018.
\nThe lava came from two eruptive fissures on\nnortheastern and south-southeastern sides of Mount Etna’s New Southeast\nCrater. 
\nThe eruption did not affect the nearby\nresidential areas or for flights at the closest airport at Catania.

\nAbout\nMount Etna <\/strong>
\nWith an elevation of 3,326 m<\/strong> (10,912\nft), it is the highest\npeak in Italy<\/strong> (south of the Alps) and is the highest active volcano in Europe <\/strong>outside\nthe Caucasus. 
\nIt is also the largest of the three active\nvolcanoes in Italy, other being Mount Vesuvius, near Naples and Mount\nStromboli, one of the Aeolian Islands. 
\nIt is an active\nstratovolcano <\/strong>and is located on the east coast of Sicily,\nItaly, in the Metropolitan City of Catania. 
\nThe United Nations has designated Mt. Etna as a Decade Volcano<\/strong> due\nto its history of recent activity and nearby population.
