Boeing said that it had signed a technical assistance agreement\nwith the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to jointly develop a comprehensive\n10-year roadmap for modernising air traffic management in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The roadmap is expected to be developed within 18 months and it\nwill be undertaken with a grant from the United States Trade and Development\nAgency (USTDA), Boeing said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The AAI owns and manages around 125 airports across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This objective of the agreement is to develop a roadmap\nfor AAI to use as guidance in the modernisation of the Indian National Airspace\nSystem (NAS) based on global and local best practices to optimally utilise\nairspace capacity, enhance communications and invest in navigation,\nsurveillance and air traffic management,” Boeing said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the project, Boeing said it will also work closely\nwith Indian aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA),\nairlines operating in India, airport operators and other airspace stakeholders\nlike the US-India Aviation Cooperation Program (ACP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Boeing will analyse current technologies and processes to\nidentify efficiency improvements that can be implemented while maintaining a\npractical and safe airspace system,” it said.\n\nAAI\nChairman Guruprasad Mohapatra said, “The implementation of modern\ntechnologies and global practices will allow India to increase its airspace\ncapacity significantly by improving communications, enabling flexible use of\nairspace and allowing the safe processing of additional flights using air\nnavigation infrastructure for smoother and more efficient skies in India.”\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
