Axis Bank<\/a>  said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved\nappointment of Rakesh Makhija as chairman of the bank. The board of the bank in\nMarch had approved appointment of Makhija as chairman subject to RBI clearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We would like to inform\nyou that RBI vide its letter dated 3151 May 2019 has approved the appointment\nof Rakesh Makhija (DIN: 00117692), independent director as the non-executive\n(part-time) chairman of the bank, for a period of 3 years, with effect from July\n18, 2019, up to July 17, 2022 (both days inclusive),” Axis Bank said in a\nregulatory filing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Makhija has been an active\nparticipant and contributor to the industrial and technology sectors, both\ninternationally and in India during his career spanning over four decades.\n\nRakesh Makhija has held a number of top management positions\nwithin the SKF Group.
