It is observed\nto commemorate the&nbsp;<strong>birth\nanniversary of the brave Rajput warrior&nbsp;<\/strong>Maharana Pratap.\n&nbsp;It was his<strong>&nbsp;479th\nbirth anniversary.<\/strong><br><br><strong>Maharana\nPratap:<\/strong><br>\nMaharana Pratap was the ruler of Mewar. He is\nthe eldest son of Maharana Udai Singh and Maharani Jaiwanta Bai. Maharana\nPratap is a symbol of Rajput valour, gallantry, and diligence. He fought\nagainst Mughal supremacy to free his homeland from their control.&nbsp;<br>\nMewar is a province in modern-day Rajasthan. The\nprovince includes Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Pirawa (Jhalawar),\nNeemuch and Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh, and some parts of Gujarat.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Some\namazing facts of Maharana Pratap:<\/strong><br>\nMaharana Pratap was one of the strongest\nwarriors in India. He is of&nbsp;<strong>7\nfeet 5 inches in height<\/strong>. He carried 360 kg of weight, which\nincluded a spear weighing 80 kg, two swords weighing 208 kg and his armour was\naround 72 kg heavy. His own weight was&nbsp;<strong>more than 110 kg.<\/strong><br>\nHe had&nbsp;<strong>11 wives, 17 sons, and 5 daughters.&nbsp;<\/strong><br>\nHe<strong>&nbsp;didn&#8217;t\nsurrender to Akbar<\/strong>&nbsp;while all the other Rajput rulers\nsurrendered and became members of his council.<br>\nMaharana Pratap bravely fought the&nbsp;<strong>Haldi Ghati Battle&nbsp;<\/strong>with\nan army of 22,000 against the Mughal army of 80,000. But he lost the war due to\ntreachery by his brother.&nbsp;<br><strong>Chetak,&nbsp;<\/strong>Maharana Pratap\u2019s horse, is known for his loyalty to\nhis master. The horse is said to have a tinge of blue on his coat. Chetak lost\nhis life while jumping across a 21-feet wide river to save his master\u2019s life.<br><strong>Ramprasad,&nbsp;<\/strong>Maharana Pratap&#8217;s elephant killed 2 war elephants of\nthe Mughal army.
