It has recorded<strong>&nbsp;1.46 lakh tonnes<\/strong>&nbsp;during\n2018.&nbsp;<br>\nNagapattinam stands third highest fish\nproduction district to have recorded&nbsp;<strong>91,186 tonnes.<\/strong>&nbsp;Thoothukudi\nstands&nbsp;<strong>fourth by\nrecording 70,965 tonnes<\/strong>&nbsp;followed by Cuddalore (62,525\ntonnes) and Chennai (55,707 tonnes).<br><br><strong>Report:<\/strong><br>\nThe Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute\n(CMFRI) released the&nbsp;<strong>district\nwise marine fish landing data for the year 2018.&nbsp;<\/strong>The&nbsp;<strong>Fisheries Resources Assessment\nDivision (FRAD) of CMFRI<\/strong>&nbsp;had collected random sampling\ndata across the state and finalized the provisional figure. The data was\ncollected by the fisheries department by employing the multi-stage cluster\nsampling method and the figures varied.<br><br><strong>Fish\nexport in 2018:<\/strong><br>\nWhile Cuttlefish (Cephalopods), prawns,\nPomfrets, crabs, and fishes belonging to the family of Percidae were exported,\nthe protein-rich Sardines and Anchovies were sold in the local markets.&nbsp;<br>\nAccording to CMFRI report, the Fish production\nfor the year 2018 was estimated at<strong>&nbsp;3.49\nmillion tonnes at the all India level.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gujarat&nbsp;topped the country with&nbsp;annual fish production of 7.8 lakh tonnes, followed by&nbsp;Tamil Nadu (7.02 lakh tonnes)&nbsp;and&nbsp;Kerala (6.43 lakh tonnes)&nbsp;according to the&nbsp;Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI).
