{"id":2002,"date":"2019-06-21T06:14:47","date_gmt":"2019-06-21T06:14:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=2002"},"modified":"2019-06-21T06:14:48","modified_gmt":"2019-06-21T06:14:48","slug":"taiwan-proposed-deal-to-buy-tanks-from-the-us","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/taiwan-proposed-deal-to-buy-tanks-from-the-us\/","title":{"rendered":"Taiwan proposed deal to buy tanks from the US"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Taiwan<\/strong>&nbsp;plans to propose a<strong>&nbsp;deal\nto buy tanks<\/strong>&nbsp;and portable missiles from<strong>&nbsp;the U.S.<\/strong>This\nproposal by Taiwan drew an<strong>&nbsp;angry\nrebuke from China.&nbsp;<\/strong>Taiwan\u2019s Defence Ministry requested the\nUS for 108 M1A2 Abrams main battle tanks, more than 1,500 Javelin and TOW\nanti-tank missiles, and 250 shoulder-fired Stinger anti-aircraft missiles in\nthe proposal formally.<br>\nThe U.S. government, on the other hand, has\ngiven Congress informal notification of its plan to sell the equipment in a\ndeal worth<strong>&nbsp;$2\nbillion.<\/strong><br><br><strong>One-China\npolicy:<\/strong><br>\nChina has asked the U.S. to understand that its\ndecision to sell arms to Taiwan might cause problems between China and Taiwan\nas it is expected Taiwan to abide by the One China principle.&nbsp;<br>\nOne-China policy says that there is only one\ncountry of China with the official name of China, despite the fact that there\nare two governments namely the<strong>&nbsp;People&#8217;s\nRepublic of China (PRC) and the Republic of China (ROC).<\/strong><br>\nDespite being ruled separately since the end of\na civil war in 1949, China still views Taiwan as its territory and has vowed to\ntake the island, by force if necessary.<br>\nIf China announces war on&nbsp;<strong>Taiwan<\/strong>, the country\noutgunned in terms of&nbsp;<strong>troop\nnumbers and firepower.<\/strong>Hence, Taiwan is in need to upgrade much\nof its equipment.
