External Affairs Minister\u00a0S Jaishankar\u00a0will embark on a two-day visit to\u00a0Bhutan\u00a0on Friday for his first bilateral trip after assuming charge of the ministry.\u00a0
The visit reflects the importance that India attaches to its\u00a0bilateral relationship\u00a0with Bhutan, a close friend, and neighbour, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a press statement.\u00a0
During the visit, Jaishankar is expected to receive an audience with King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, call on Prime Minister Lyonchhen Dr. Lotay Tshering and meet his counterpart Lyonpo Dr. Tandi Dorji.\u00a0
During the visit, the two sides will discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations, including the upcoming high-level exchanges, economic development and hydro-power cooperation, the statement said.\u00a0
“India and Bhutan share a unique and time tested bilateral relationship, characterized by utmost trust, goodwill and mutual understanding. External Affairs Minister’s visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular visits and exchange of views at the high levels between the two countries,” it further said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
