US President Donald\nTrump <\/strong>has threatened that the US would hit China<\/strong> with\ntariffs on at least another\n$300 billion worth of Chinese goods. <\/strong>While Trump on 6 June\nsaid that talks with China were ongoing, no face-to-face meetings have been\nheld since May 10. 
\nOn May 10, the US sharply increased tariffs on a $200 billion<\/strong> list\nof Chinese goods to 25% for which Beijing retaliated.
\nTensions between the two countries have risen\nsharply since talks aimed at ending a festering trade war broke down in early\nMay.

\nThe International\nMonetary Fund (IMF)<\/strong> has warned that escalating tariff\nthreats reduce\nbusiness and market confidence <\/strong>and it could slow global\ngrowth that is currently expected to improve\nin 2020.<\/strong>Regarding this issue, the US Treasury Secretary Steven\nMnuchin is scheduled to meet People’s Bank of China Governor Yi Gang at a\ngathering of G20 finance leaders in Japan.
