\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Union\nCabinet approved <\/strong>the two Medical Bills, Indian Medical Council (Amendment\nBill), 2019, and the Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment Bill), 2019.<\/strong> Both\nthe bills had lapsed in the 16th\nLok Sabha session. <\/strong>
\nThe Bills are to be reintroduced in the\nupcoming Parliament\nsession. <\/strong>

Indian\nMedical Council (Amendment Bill), 2019:<\/strong>
\nThe Bill is aimed at bringing in accountability, transparency,\nand quality<\/strong> in the governance of medical education in the\ncountry. The bill will also provide for supersession of the Medical Council of India\n(MCI) <\/strong>for a period of two years from August 26, 2018.
\nThe Board of Governors shall exercise the powers\nand functions of the MCI as assigned under the IMC Act, 1956. The Board of\nGovernors (BoG) members will be increased from existing 7 to 12.<\/strong>

Homoeopathy\nCentral Council (Amendment Bill), 2019:<\/strong>
\nThe Homoeopathy Central Council (Amendment\nBill), 2019 is intended to extend the period for reconstitution of the Central Council<\/strong> from\nan existing period of one\nyear to two years.<\/strong> Also, the tenure of the Board of\nGovernors will be extended for a further period of one year with effect from May 17, 2019.<\/strong>

Dentists\nAct, 1948:<\/strong>
\nThe Centre has also approved the introduction of\na Bill to amend the\nDentists Act, 1948.<\/strong> The Bill aimed to make the Dental\nCouncil of India more effective. The Bill is expected to restructure the Dental\nCouncils. Also, the representation of Central government members and elected\nmembers would no longer be made mandatory in the Dental Councils.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
