Scientists from Delhi University and Wildlife Institute of India <\/strong>in collaboration with researchers from Indonesia and the USA<\/strong> has discovered a new frog species in the Northeast. <\/strong>

\nAppearance:<\/strong>
\nThe frog is reddish brown in colour. <\/strong>It has prominent dark streaks and ash grey mottling<\/strong> on the lateral sides. Web is absent on its feet.

\nMicrohylid genus:<\/strong>
\nThe frog has been named Micryletta aishani. <\/strong>It belongs to the Microhylid genus.<\/strong> The\nfirst known species of the genus was found in Sumatra, Indonesia.<\/strong> At present, the Microhylid genus has only four\nrecognised species that are commonly known as paddy frogs.<\/strong>
\nBut the new frog species that was found on the\nNortheast India was confirmed as a new species after detailed comparison of\nboth DNA and morphology with all previously known species across Southeast and\nEast Asia. The study also revealed that this kind of paddy frog might be found\nin Southeast regions such as Laos, Thailand and Vietnam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
