{"id":23647,"date":"2020-06-20T02:47:14","date_gmt":"2020-06-20T02:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=23647"},"modified":"2020-06-20T02:47:16","modified_gmt":"2020-06-20T02:47:16","slug":"iifpt-manufactures-nutrient-rich-foods-to-covid-19-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/iifpt-manufactures-nutrient-rich-foods-to-covid-19-patients\/","title":{"rendered":"IIFPT manufactures nutrient-rich foods to COVID-19 patients"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT)<\/strong>, under the<strong>&nbsp;Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI)&nbsp;<\/strong>has taken initiative to manufacture nutrient-rich foods for COVID-19 patients at a time when the need for healthy and immunity-boosting foods is indispensable.<br><br><strong><u>Highlights:<\/u><\/strong><br>\u2666 IIFPT has been manufacturing such&nbsp;<strong>nutrient-rich foods for COVID-19 patients<\/strong>&nbsp;under medical examination.<br>\u2666 The aim is to focus on nutrition to improve immunity in the wake of COVID-19.<br>\u2666 The scientists from the IIFPT have developed&nbsp;<strong>novel food product formulations<\/strong>&nbsp;that have been packed with a range of indigenous foods.&nbsp;<br>\u2666<strong>&nbsp;Bread, cookies, rusks, and millet pops&nbsp;<\/strong>are being prepared on a daily basis at IIFPT&#8217;s Hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) and ISO Certified Food Processing Business Incubation Center (FPBIC).<br>\u2666 All products are being prepared and packed carefully by the IIFPT staff. No synthetic additives are being added to these products.<br>\u2666 They are supplied to the Medical College and Hospital to be served to the COVID-19 patients. &nbsp;<br><br><strong><u>Special Foods:<\/u><\/strong><br>The package includes&nbsp;<strong>Bread loaves<\/strong>&nbsp;with dried moringa leaves, groundnut powder, and whey protein to make up to around 9.8% protein and 8.1% fibre, apart from natural immunity-boosters like garlic, turmeric, ginger, pepper, and other spices. Cookies have around 14.16% protein and 8.71% fibre, apart from the benefits of spice extracts. The rusks with around 12.85% protein and 10.61% fibre were equally good in terms of organoleptic attributes.<br><br><strong><u>Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT):<\/u><\/strong><br>IIFPT is a research institution that functions under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI).
