Other projects on the shortlist included UK charity&nbsp;<strong>WRAP, and Food 4 Education.<\/strong><br><br><strong>Akshaya\nPatra:<\/strong><br>\nAkshaya Patra is a<strong>&nbsp;non-profit organisation<\/strong>&nbsp;which\nwas&nbsp;<strong>established on\n2000.<\/strong>&nbsp;The organisation runs one of the&nbsp;<strong>world\u2019s largest school meals\nproject&nbsp;<\/strong>in India.&nbsp;<br>\nThe mission aims to ensure that no child is\ndeprived of education because of hunger. It recognises that children may\nabandon education to do menial jobs to earn enough money to eat and also an\nempty stomach in the classromm can make it hard for them to concentrate.<br>\n20 years ago, the charity started its&nbsp;<strong>mid\u00adday meal programme<\/strong>.\nInitially it provided&nbsp;<strong>1,500\nfree school<\/strong>lunches every day.
