\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe 16th\nAsia Media Summit <\/strong>was concluded on 13 June in Cambodia. <\/strong>The\nsummit called for regulation-making to fight against fake news and\ncyber-crimes.The theme of the summit was Media Digitalisation – Focusing on Developing Markets.<\/strong>

16th\nAsia Media Summit:<\/strong>
\nThe summit was organised by Cambodian Ministry of\nInformation and the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development\n(AIBD). <\/strong>
\nParticipants: Around 600 media representatives\nfrom 42 countries<\/strong> and\nregions participated in the two-day summit.

Focus:<\/strong>
\nThe summit focused on the spread of\ndisinformation or fake news and its impact on governments, media, private sector and society.<\/strong> The\ndiscussions included the concerns caused by digital media, which requires\nrelevant authorities to make regulations to anti-cybercrimes, fake news,<\/strong> and\ntraining people to\nraise awareness and enhance media profession.<\/strong>
\nThe summit encouraged the broadcasters and other\nmedia stakeholders to counter fake news by strengthening law enforcement,\nethics and professionalism.

Angkor\nFake News Initiative:<\/strong>
\nDuring the summit Angkor Fake News Initiative<\/strong> was\nlaunched. It is year-long research project to find out appropriate measures to\ncounter fake news. It was urged that fake news and cyber-crimes pose severe\nrisks to individual’s right and security in the region as well as in the globe.

Asia\nMedia Summit:<\/strong>
\nAsia Media Summit was established in 2004 in Kuala Lumpur<\/strong>,\nMalaysia. The summit was held subsequently in Malaysia until 2008. 
\nThe sixth round of the meeting was moved\nto Macau of China\nin 2009<\/strong>. It was then held in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam,\nSaudi Arabia, India and Cambodia in the following years.
\nIt provides opportunity for media practitioners,\nindustry leaders, broadcasters, researchers, academia, experts and media policy\nmakers to meet and discuss the developing media\u2019s quality and high\ntechnological revolution.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
