\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIndia will be hosting the14th session of the Conference of\nParties (COP-14) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification\n(UNCCD)<\/strong> for the first time. COP-14 will be held between\nSeptember 2 and 14 in Delhi.
Participants:<\/strong> It is expected that atleast 5,000 delegates from\nnearly 197 countries will be participating. 
\nThe Centre launched a flagship project, part of\na larger international initiative called the Bonn Challenge<\/strong>ahead of the COP-14.\nThe flagship project aims to enhance India\u2019s capacity for forest landscape restoration (FLR).<\/strong>
\nThe Bonn Challenge is a global effort to bring\n150 million hectares of the world\u2019s deforested and degraded land under\nrestoration by 2020, and 350 million hectares by 2030.

COP-13\nof UNCCD:<\/strong>
\nThe 13th session of the Conference of Parties\n(COP-13) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) was\nheld in Ordos, China. Around 113 countries had agreed to specify concrete\ntargets with clear indicators, to rehabilitate more land and reverse\ndegradation, which currently affects over a third of the world\u2019s land\nresources.
