The move is to expand the<strong>&nbsp;scope of the clean fuel\ntechnology<\/strong>&nbsp;beyond two- and three-wheelers.<br><br><strong>Proposal\nto Ministries:<\/strong><br>\n\u2666 It also seeks to fix responsibility for\ndifferent ministries. It had asked the<strong>&nbsp;Ministry\nof road transport and highways<\/strong>&nbsp;to prepare a framework\nto&nbsp;<strong>phase out the\nsale of diesel<\/strong>&nbsp;and petrol vehicles by 2030.&nbsp;<br>\n\u2666 It has also suggested that the ministry to\nroll out an&nbsp;<strong>e-highways\nprogramme<\/strong>, with an overhead electricity network, to enable\nplying of trucks and buses on select National Highways.&nbsp;<br>\n\u2666 It directed the Ministry of Heavy Industries\nto go for complete replacement of all diesel\/ petrol vehicles with EVs of all\ncentral ministries, agencies and public sector by 2030.<br>\n\u2666 The proposals are part of the plan to\nmanufacture&nbsp;<strong>50\nGigawatt hour (GWh)&nbsp;<\/strong>batteries by 2030.<br>\nEarlier, a panel headed by<strong>&nbsp;NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh\nKant&nbsp;<\/strong>had suggested that only electric-powered\nthree-wheelers and two-wheelers with an engine capacity of up to<strong>&nbsp;150 cc should be sold from 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NITI Aayog,&nbsp;the government&#8217;s think tank, has proposed that only&nbsp;electric vehicles should be sold after 2030.
