Bapatla MLA of the YSR Congress Party Kona Raghupathi was\nunanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of AP\u2019s 15th Legislative Assembly on\nTuesday, the last day of the first session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His candidature was proposed by YSRCP MLAs and Ministers Botcha\nSatyanarayana, Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao, Mekathoti Sucharita and others and\nthe House unanimously elected him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Soon after the announcement by Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, Chief\nMinister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy walked up to Mr. Raghupathi and extended\ngreetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Jagan along with the Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu\nNaidu ushered Mr. Raghupathi to the chair of the Speaker. It was the first time\nthe Leader of the house and the Opposition came together honouring the Deputy\nSpeaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Naidu skipped accompanying Speaker Mr. Sitaram recently and\nsent one of his members instead. Mr. Naidu was allegedly not invited then.\nLater, all the members queued up and congratulated Mr. Raghupathi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have elected you\nhoping that you would do well and also give enough time to the Opposition. I\nmake this appeal on behalf of the Opposition too,\u201d Mr. Jagan said on the\noccasion.\n\nMr. Naidu recalled his\nassociation with Kona Prabhakar, father of Mr. Raghupathi and a former Speaker\nand Governor of three States.
