Evidence suggests Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman and other senior Saudi officials are liable for the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a United Nations <\/strong>rights investigator said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There was\nno immediate reaction from Riyadh, which was sent the 100-page report in\nadvance – but the kingdom has regularly denied accusations that the prince was\ninvolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Agnes\nCallamard, the U.N. special rapporteur on extrajudicial executions, called for\ncountries to widen sanctions to include the Crown Prince and his personal\nassets, until and unless he can prove he has no responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Khashoggi,\na critic of the prince and a Washington Post <\/em>columnist, was last seen at\nthe Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2 where he was to receive papers\nahead of his wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nHis body was dismembered and removed from the building, the Saudi prosecutor\nhas said, and his remains have not been found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt is the conclusion of the Special Rapporteur that Mr. Khashoggi has been the victim of a deliberate, premeditated execution, an extrajudicial killing for which the state of Saudi Arabia <\/strong>is responsible under international human rights law,\u201d Ms. Callamard said in her report based on a six-month investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ms.\nCallamard went to Turkey earlier this year with a team of forensic and legal experts\nand said she received evidence from Turkish authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThere is\ncredible evidence, warranting further investigation of high-level Saudi\nofficials individual liability, including the Crown Princes\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIndeed,\nthis human rights inquiry has shown that there is sufficient credible evidence\nregarding the responsibility of the Crown Prince demanding further\ninvestigation,\u201d she said and urged U.N.
