Five nominated members from the community \u2014 Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, Gopi Shankar Madurai, Meera Parida, Zainab Javid Patel and Kak Chingtabam Shyamcand Sharma \u2014 are also part of the Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council is formed under Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The council has five main functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n- Advising the central government on the formulation of policies, programmes, legislation and projects with respect to transgender persons;<\/li>
- Monitoring and evaluating the impact of policies and programmes designed for achieving equality and full participation of transgender persons;<\/li>
- Reviewing and coordinating the activities of all the departments;<\/li>
- Redressing grievances of transgender persons; and<\/li>
