{"id":2773,"date":"2019-06-25T06:36:55","date_gmt":"2019-06-25T06:36:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=2773"},"modified":"2019-07-12T11:03:58","modified_gmt":"2019-07-12T11:03:58","slug":"rbi-deputy-governor-viral-acharya-resigns-before-term-ends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/rbi-deputy-governor-viral-acharya-resigns-before-term-ends\/","title":{"rendered":"RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya Resigns Before Term Ends"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>RBI Deputy Governor Viral Acharya, who was in-charge of\nthe monetary policy department, has resigned six months before the scheduled\nend of his term, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) confirmed on Monday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acharya submitted a letter a few weeks ago saying he was\nunable to continue his term beyond July 23 due to unavoidable personal\ncircumstances, the RBI said in a news release. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the second high profile resignation in the past\nsix month at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). In December, governor Urjit Patel\nresigned nearly nine months before the end of his schedule term over\ndifferences with the government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acharya had joined the central bank on January 23 last\nyear after Patel was elevated to the post of governor in September 2016. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RBI is now left with three deputy governors N S\nVishwanathan, BP Kanungo and MK Jain.
