He was the eldest son of Udai Singh II, who is the founder of the city of Udaipur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pratap Singh was born on 9 May 1540. He was a king of Mewar, a region in the present-day Rajasthan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maharana is famously known for his bravery in the Battle of Haldighati. The battle was fought on 18 June 1576.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was fought between the forces Maharana Pratap; and the Mughal emperor Akbar&#8217;s forces which was led by Man Singh I of Amber. The Mughals won the battle but failed to capture Pratap, who escaped.
