The IPS officer has also\ncompleted her 7th summit in the &#8220;<strong>7\nSummits<\/strong>&#8221; challenge. She has, hence, become the first civil servant and\nIPS officer to achieve the feat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IPS officer has scaled the summit in her third attempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She had also recently completed her south pole expedition.\nAfter completing the south pole expedition, Aparna Kumar headed to the north\npole to start the 111-mile journey from April 4 from Norway&#8217;s Oslo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aparna Kumar had reached the north pole on January 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In January, Aparna successfully reached the south pole after\ncovering 111 kilometres of walking on the snow. She also carried equipment\nweighing 35 Kilograms along with her. She has already scaled the top six\nmountain peaks of the six continents of the globe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She reached the south pole on January 13, where she unfurled\nthe National and ITBP flags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aparna is a 2002 batch UP Cadre IPS officer, who has been\nposted at the Northern Frontier Headquarters of ITBP in Dehradun. The ITBP has\nbeen credited with 211 successful mountaineering expeditions across the globe,\nmaking a record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aparna Kumar:<\/strong><br>\nAparna Kumar is an<strong>&nbsp;Indo-Tibetan Border\nPolice (ITBP) Dehra Dun Frontier&nbsp;DIG<\/strong>. She is also the\nfirst woman IPS officer to reach the South Pole on January 13 after walking 111\nkilometres with 35 kilograms of equipment on her back.<br>\nIn 2016, she became the first officer of the All India Services to successfully\nscale Antarctica\u2019s highest peak Mount Vinson Massif followed by Mount Manaslu\nin Nepal in 2017.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Mount Denali:<\/strong><br>\nMount Denali is considered the third most prominent and third most isolated\npeak on Earth, after Mount Everest and Aconcagua. Mount Everest is the highest\npeak in the world, Aconcagua is the highest mountain in the Southern and\nWestern Hemispheres. It is also the tallest peak outside of Asia.<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Seven Summits:<\/strong><br>\n<strong>The seven listed summits in the challenge\nare:&nbsp;<\/strong><br>\n1) Mount Everest in Nepal\/China<br>\n2) Aconcagua in Argentina<br>\n3) Denali in the US<br>\n4) Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania<br>\n5) Mount Elbrus in Russia<br>\n6) Mount Vinson in Antarctica<br>\n7) Puncak Jaya and Mount Kosciuszko in Australia<br>\n<br>\n<strong>Other Mountaineers in Summit Challenge:<\/strong><br>\nCanadian mountaineer&nbsp;<strong>Patrick Morrow<\/strong>&nbsp;was\nthe first man to climb the Seven Summits in 1986.&nbsp;<br>\nIndian Army officer&nbsp;<strong>Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal<\/strong>&nbsp;is\nthe first Indian to summit the seven highest peaks spread across the seven\ncontinents.
