It may be mentioned that the\nCorporate Affairs Department, Govt of India, has selected NALCO for this award\nat the national level for introducing and implementing schemes like Nalco ki\nLadli.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many social organizations have congratulated NALCO\u2019s CMD Dr.\nTapan Kumar Chand for such innovative socially beneficial scheme.\nCongratulating the NALCO Collective on this achievement, Dr. Chand said, \u201cWhat\nbegan as an initiative to empower the girl child through a CSR programme called\n\u2018NALCO ki Ladli\u2019 is turning out to be a powerful trigger for women\nempowerment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Scheme, provides adoption of poor girl students to\nenable them to study and settle in life. At present, NALCO has adopted 416 poor\ngirl students from 66 villages Angul and Damanjodi sectors in 45 schools. The\nscheme promotes Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister\u2019s call for Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.\nUnder this scheme, which was launched in the year 2015, NALCO took great care\nto handpick meritorious girl children belonging to Below Poverty Line families\nlocated in periphery area of NALCO\u2019s pants in Damanjodi, Angul and Pottangi in\nOdisha. Apart from financially supporting the children from 8th standard to\n10th standard, the Aluminium giant has gone beyond the script to empower the\nchild. To ensure a holistic approach to education, beneficiaries are exposed to\nvarious programmes and co-curricular activities organized by NALCO from time to\ntime, including sports activities, workshops, seminars and celebration of\nvarious events. NALCO has plans to scale up the scheme at Pan India level covering\npoor girl children of Odisha, aspirational districts of the country and NALCO\u2019s\nperipheral villages. CSR experts say the scheme will immensely contribute for\ngirl child education &amp; women empowerment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a view to augment the scheme, NALCO has launched an innovative Employee Social Responsibility (ESR) programme recently, which offers employees a satisfying way to meaningfully contribute towards social causes. Under this scheme, the employees of the company get a chance to adopt the Ladlis and support their education.
