The Department of State has designated the Balochistan\nLiberation Army (BLA) and Hizballah operative Husain Ali Hazzima as Specially\nDesignated Global Terrorists (SDGTs) under Executive Order (E.O.) 13224,\naccording to a State Department notification issues on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
BLA is an armed separatist group that targets security\nforces and civilians, mainly in ethnic Baloch areas of Pakistan. BLA has\ncarried out several terrorist attacks in the past year, including a suicide\nattack in August 2018 that targeted Chinese engineers in Balochistan, a\nNovember 2018 attack on the Chinese consulate in Karachi, and a May 2019 attack\nagainst a luxury hotel in Gwadar, Balochistan, the State Department said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Pakistan has welcomed the move and hoped that\n“designation will ensure that BLA\u2019s space to operate is minimized”.

\n“We have taken note of the designation by the US Administration of the\nBalochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as Specially Designated Global Terrorist\n(SDGT). BLA remains a proscribed entity in Pakistan since 2006 and in recent\ntimes has carried out several terrorist attacks in the country,” a\nstatement from Pakistani government said.\n\n“It is hoped that this designation will\nensure that BLA\u2019s space to operate is minimized. It is important that the\nperpetrators, organizers, financers and external sponsors including those\nglorifying these acts of terror against Pakistan are held accountable and brought\nto justice,” it said.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
