The Indian Army has constructed a War Memorial in Arunachal Pradesh named after Subedar Joginder Singh who was martyred in the 1962 India-China war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Subedar Joginder Singh, 1st Battalion the Sikh Regt received the highest gallantry award, Param Vir Chakra in the Eastern Theatre during the 1962 Sino- India War.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian Army organised the Inauguration Ceremony of Joginder War Memorial at Bum La on 23 October 2020 coinciding with the day on which the Battle of Tongpen La ( Bum La ) took place in 1962.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bum La is a border pass between Cona County (in Tibet) and Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh (India).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is 37 km away from the town of Tawang and 43 km from the town of Cona (Tsona Dzong).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pass currently serves as a trading point between Tawang and Tibet. It is also an agreed Border Personnel Meeting point for the security forces of China and India.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
