After\nChina and Ukraine, India will host 3rd International Sunflower Seed and Oil\nConference (ISSOC) 2019 on July 19 and 20 in Mumbai. The conference, hosted by\nSolvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA), will see participation from global\nindustry leaders, experts, researchers, and government representatives<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union\nCommerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is likely to be the Chief Guest\nand Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, will preside over the\nInaugural Function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 300\ndelegates from across the world with interests in sunflower seed, oil and meal\nare expected to attend this conference in Mumbai. A large group of members of\nCIARA, Argentina headed by H.E. Dr. Luis Miguel Etchevehere, Agriculture\nSecretary (Minister), Government of Argentina, will also participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also,\nInternational Trade Centre (ITC) Geneva of United Nations under their project\nSITA (Supporting Indian Trade and Investment for Africa) is planning to send a\ndelegation of Sunflower seed growers\/processors from Tanzania & Uganda for\nparticipating in this International Conference, SEA stated in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\nis India\u2019s consumption of sunflower oil?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

India is the chief importer of sunflower oil with imports of around 2.8\nmillion tonnes. The global sunflower oil import is nearly 9.6 million tonnes.\nThis shows India\u2019s importance in the global sunflower seed & oil market as\nevery producer \/ exporting nation in the world looks to India for a market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunflower seed is considered as a healthy table-seed & culinary seed\nwith broad applications in variety of food preparations that includes cakes and\npastries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About\nSunflower Oil Association<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Sunflower Oil Association was established in the year 2015\nin Rome by National Associations & Companies from Russia, China, Ukraine,\nSpain, Hungary and Argentina. It aims to encourage & endorse better\ncommunications amongst – sunflower oil producers, academic researchers,\nindustry groups and local governments, as well as improving sunflower oil value\naddition & enlarging the field of its commercial application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1st International Sunflower Oil Symposium & ISOA launching ceremony\nwas held in October 2015, in China and the 2nd conference was held in July 2017\nin Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The global sunflower seed output in 2018-19 is estimated at 51.41 million\ntonnes, sunflower oil at 19.45 million tonnes and sunflower meal at 20.90\nmillion tonnes. The top producers of sunflower are Russia, Ukraine and\nArgentina. China, India, France, Belarus, Hungry, Romania, Kazakhstan, Turkey,\nTanzania, are countries that produce relatively smaller quantity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
