The prominent leader was born on 2nd October, 1904<\/strong> at Mughalsarai, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. <\/strong>
In 1920s he joined the freedom movement <\/strong>and served as a prominent leader of the Indian National Congress.
In 1930, he participated in the Salt March <\/strong>and went to jail for two years.<\/strong> As s Home Minister he introduced the first committee on Prevention of Corruption.<\/strong> He raised his voice against dowry system and caste system.<\/strong>
The second Prime Minister<\/strong> of Independent India was Lal Bahadur Shastri. The slogan of \u201cJai Jawan Jai Kisan\u201d <\/strong>which means \u201cHail the soldier, Hail the farmer”<\/strong> was introduced by him.
Lal Bahadur Shastri died on 11 January, 1966 due to heart attack. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna<\/strong>, the India’s highest civilian award, posthumously in 1966.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
