But over two decades prior to that, the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) had, under the provisions of The Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, declared Dahanu an \u201cecologically fragile area\u201d and imposed restrictions on setting up of industries that have a detrimental effect on the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
