Bangladesh has started functioning World\u2019s largest burn and plastic surgery institute named Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute <\/strong>in Dhaka. 
The Outpatient Department (OPD) inaugurated by the Health and Family Welfare Minister of Bangladesh Zahid Maleque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery\nInstitute will help treat burn patients and train plastic surgeons to meet the\ncountry’s requirements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opening gates of the unit, Health and Family Welfare\nMinister Zahid Maleque opened the outdoor unit of the institute as the chief\nguest in the Dhaka’s Chankharpul area around 11:00am, said Dr Samanta Lal Sen,\nchief coordinator of the Burn Units across the country. The outdoor unit will\nremain for patients from 11:00am to 2:30pm every day except public holidays.\nBesides, the services of indoor unit might be opened within a month, said\nSamanta Lal Sen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 24 last year, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina\ninaugurated the burn and plastic surgery institute. The 12-storey institute,\nlocated next to the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover will provide advanced\ntreatment to burn patients, while physicians and nurses will also get trainings\nto enhance their professional skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With state-of-the-art equipment and technology, the\ninstitute has 500 beds, 50 intensive care units and 12 operation theatres,\nmaking it the largest burn and plastic surgery institute in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On April 6, 2016, Hasina inaugurated the construction work\nof the institute, by laying its foundation stone. The burn and plastic surgery\ninstitute was constructed at a cost of Tk 522 crore as part of the current\ngovernment’s plan to provide modern treatment facilities to patients of burn\ninjuries, develop medical experts and conduct research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are three blocks in the institute hosting the burn unit, plastic surgery unit and academic wing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
