It further runs down towards Rajasthan and Gujarat on\nIndia\u2019s western flank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BSF is the primary force guarding this frontier as the\n\u2018first line of defence\u2019.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to sources huge assortments of heavy machinery,\ncommunication interceptors and mobile bulletproof bunkers have been mobilized\nas well as part of the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Frontier and battalion commanders (from the Inspector\nGeneral to the Commandant rank), their second-in-commands and company (unit)\ncommanders of the about 40 battalions of the BSF are camping in the forward\nareas of the two states to finish the operation within a fortnight and be at\ntheir bases by July 15, by when the monsoon will unleash heavy rains and cut\neasy access to these locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The commanders of the force have been asked to prepare their\nwatchtowers and sentry posts better, replenish arms and ammunition dumps,\nstrengthen artillery positions, check and plug border fence breaches, detect\nunderground and cross-border tunnels and make all operational and logistical\narrangements to strengthen the vigil along the sensitive and infiltration-prone\nborder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BSF Director General Rajni Kant Mishra and senior officials\nof the border guarding force are expected to review the results on the ground\nonce the exercise ends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Boosting defence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A mega exercise to fortify the \u2018anti-infiltration grid\u2019\nalong the Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu has been launched by the BSF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mega exercise has been named \u2018Sudarshan\u2019 drawing from\nthe mythological cutting wheel or the \u2018sudarshan chakra\u2019 of Lord Krishna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A huge assortment of heavy machinery, communication\ninterceptors and mobile bulletproof bunkers have been mobilized to the borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thousands of BSF personnel will be part of the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Multiple patrols are being undertaken to boost defence\npositions.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Operation Sudarshan:<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Heavy machineries:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>BSF has mobilized its entire <strong>senior field brass, thousands of troops, and machinery deployed<\/strong> along the Pakistan border in Punjab and Jammu.
