Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in January inaugurated the museum,\nwhose portions occupy a 19th century heritage bungalow and a modern building in\nsouth Mumbai. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;These museums\nare not just about artefacts kept in them; they are also about witnessing the\njourney that made cinema possible as well as about narrating the untold stories\nbehind those cinemas,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Barua cited the\nexample of an actress of the very first Assamese film, who remained unmarried\ndue to the social stigma attached to the profession in those times. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Today&#8217;s\ngeneration should be aware of her contribution to Indian cinema, which came at\na very personal cost,&#8221; he added. Director General, Films Division,\nPrashant Pathrabe, said several educational institutions and students of media\nstudies visit the Museum regularly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;This bulletin\nwill give them a physical document to cherish and to get relevant\ninformation,&#8221; Pathrabe said. He spoke of the growing popularity of the\nmuseum, adding people from neighbouring countries have been frequently visiting\nthe museum in large numbers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking on the\noccasion, Director General (West Zone), Ministry of Information &amp;\nBroadcasting, R N Mishra said India is a nation of great storytellers and\nproduces the largest number of films in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The diversity\nthat we see in Indian cinema is to be found nowhere else; we just need to\nmarket Indian cinema better,&#8221; Mishra said. Indian films are popular the\nworld over and are conquering territories like China and Japan, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About National Museum of Indian Cinema<\/strong><br>It was\u00a0inaugurated by Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister of India on 19th January 2019 \u00a0<br>It is at the \u00a0Films Division Complex, Pedder Road, Mumbai. \u00a0<br>The Museum is open to the public from Tuesday to \u00a0Sunday (11 AM to 6 PM) .<br>It will remain closed on Mondays and Public Holidays.\u00a0<br>There will be film screening daily from 4pm-5pm at the Audi II in the ground floor of the Museum.<br>The Museum is housed in two buildings \u2013 the New Museum Building and the 19th-century heritage building, \u00a0Gulshan Mahal \u2013 both at the Films Division complex.<br>The Museum showcases the history of India Cinema and has ample artifacts, digital elements including kiosks, interactive digital screens, information-based screen interfaces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cNMIC Bulletin\u201c is launched by the National Museum of Indian Cinema located in Mumbai, Maharashtra with veteran film maker Jahnu Barua hoping that it will become a platform for movie buffs and other stakeholders.
