{"id":3714,"date":"2019-07-13T08:58:23","date_gmt":"2019-07-13T08:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=3714"},"modified":"2019-07-13T12:16:19","modified_gmt":"2019-07-13T12:16:19","slug":"railway-protection-force-of-indian-railways-launched-operation-thirst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/railway-protection-force-of-indian-railways-launched-operation-thirst\/","title":{"rendered":"Railway Protection Force of Indian Railways launched Operation thirst."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched\nan all-India drive called <strong>Operation thirst and<\/strong> registered 732\ncases against 801 persons for selling unauthorised water bottle brands across\n18 zones including the&nbsp;East Central Railway (ECR), headquarter at Hajipur\nin Bihar, on July 8 and 9 respectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The nationwide arrests were conducted under &#8216;Operation\nThirst&#8217; launched across the Indian Railway (IR) following the direction of\ndirector general of RPF A Kumar given to all the chief security commissioners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ravindra Verma, chief security commissioner of\nRPF in ECR, said,&nbsp;&#8220;A total 732 cases of selling unauthorised brands\nof bottled water were registered during the Operation Thirst and 801 persons\nincluding 154 from Bihar were arrested under 114 and 133 of the Railway\nAct.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of total 48,860 water bottles seized, 12,405 were\nfound to be of unauthorised brands. That&nbsp;is one of the biggest seizures of\nbottles in recent times in railways. Verma further said &#8220;The bottles of\ndrinking mineral water unauthorized brands seized have been valued at Rs\n1.64,841. A sum of Rs 1,74,440 was also collected in the form of fine&nbsp;from\n154 persons arrested.&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quoting directive of DG RPF, Verma further said\nthat the Operation Thirst would be followed by&nbsp;special drive nationwide\nacross all the 18 zones included ECR&nbsp;in order to curb this menace of sale\nof unauthorised brands of a bottle of water during the peak season of journey\nand rush of passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the arrest of 801 people, managers of\nfour pantry cars of different express trains were also arrested for\nfacilitating the sale of unauthorized brands of drinking water. The DG RPG A\nKumar personally monitored this operation from New Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Operation across India:<\/strong><br>The operation was launched in all major railway stations across the country to curb menace of unauthorized Packaged Drinking Water inside railway stations.
