Showering praises\non the author the Governor said that Salil Gewali\u2019s book showcases the\nexceptionally rich civilization of India and its remarkable contributions to\nthe world in the development of the Modern science, Mathematics, Linguistic,\nMetallurgy, Cosmology, Psychology, and other areas of studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Quoting from the\nbook, the Governor said: “Twenty-four centuries before Isaac Newton, the\nIndian scriptures asserted that gravitation held the universe together. The\nSanskrit speaking Aryans subscribed to the idea of a spherical earth in an era\nwhen the Greeks believed in a flat one.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Emphasizing the\nimportance of the book in the present contest, the Governor further added:\n\u201cThis title doubtlessly serves as a LIGHT of wisdom even to the educated who\nhave lost their faith in the ancient heritage. Truly, the ancient knowledge has\nbeen held as eternal wisdom. Our most beloved eleventh President of India,\neminent scientist — Dr. Abdul Kalam has regarded Vedas as the oldest classics\nand the most precious treasures of the East. Great philosopher, writer, poet\nand artist Rabindranath Tagore was highly inspired by the Upanishads and the\nworks of the greatest Sanskrit poet Kalidas while writing his \u2018Geetanjalee\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahatma Gandhi, an\nepitome of peace, tolerance and non-violence whose works and lifestyles\ninspired many great scholars, statesmen, scientists and diplomats of the modern\nage, also admitted the Bhagawat Gita as a boundless ocean of priceless gems.\nEven VS Naipaul, the renowned author of \u2018A Wounded Civilization\u2019, admits the\nEastern Wisdom as the noblest of all.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This unique book\nhas been translated into Bengali by Dr. R N Das and edited by Prof. Nirmal\nMaity of Kolkata which is originally prefaced by a NASA Chief Scientist, Dr.\nKamlesh Lulla of Houston, USA. This book is now being used as a textbook in\nsome of the schools in Kolkata for students from Class -6 to 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The book first\npublished in the Xerox format in 1998 and later brought out in its normal print\nformat in 2009 by Academic Publications of Shillong (Meghalaya), it has been\nhighly lauded across the country and abroad. The first original English edition\nunveiled in 2009 by then Governor of Meghalaya RS Mooshahary, the book\u2019s\ntranslated versions such as Hindi, Malayalam and Marathi editions have\nsubsequently been launched by the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and the\nGovernor of Maharashtra and Gujarat in the years 2013 and 2015 respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This landmark\ncompilation of the quotes of world-famous luminaries, which is edited by a NASA\nscientist \u2013 Prof. A V Murali, has long been captivating the attention of the\nnoted scholars from across the world. Robert Brenton of Brooklyn, New York says\n\u2013 \u201c \u2018Great Minds on India’ is fantastic and a further testimony to the immense\nwisdom that comes from the great masters in ancient India, who saw the truth in\nancient times and left it for us to ponder.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
