Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nHe will be visiting Australia to attend the 10th edition of\nIndian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) next month as its chief guest, said\nhaving his humanitarian endeavours recognised for the first time by the country\nwas a great honour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Trobe University is the first Australian university to\naward Khan with an Honorary Degree, Doctor of Letters (honoris causa).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I’m proud to be conferred with a great university like\nLa Trobe which has a long-standing relationship with Indian culture and\nimpressive track record in advocating for women’s equality,” Khan was\nquoted by the university’s statement on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I feel truly privileged to receive this honorary\ndoctorate and I would like to sincerely thank La Trobe for choosing to\nrecognise my achievements in such a humbling way,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IFFM director Mitu Bhowmick said the festival was lucky to have\nthe university as a partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The university shares our festival’s core values of\ninclusion, diversity and cultural growth,” Bhowmick said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added, “To be a part of this magnificent\ncelebration of Mr Shah Rukh Khan’s amazing work, with La Trobe, is a matter of\ngreat joy and pride for the festival.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
La Trobe will present Khan with his honorary doctorate on\nAugust 9 at its Melbourne campus in Bundoora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The La Trobe University Vice-Chancellor John Dewar, said the\nactor’s philanthropic leadership closely aligns with the university’s values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Khan is a champion of societal change whose efforts to\nsupport the equality of women in India reflect La Trobe’s values of\ninclusiveness, equity and social justice,” Dewar said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As the only Victorian university to teach Hindi language and\ncinema studies, Dewar said it was a natural fit for La Trobe to be the\nexclusive Learning Partner for the IFFM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In the past eight years we have been proud to host\nIndia’s iconic film stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Rajkumar\nHirani with the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne at La Trobe,” Dewar\nadded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
