{"id":38664,"date":"2021-03-15T02:56:12","date_gmt":"2021-03-15T02:56:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=38664"},"modified":"2021-03-15T02:56:13","modified_gmt":"2021-03-15T02:56:13","slug":"poland-to-ban-gays-from-adopting-even-as-single-parents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/poland-to-ban-gays-from-adopting-even-as-single-parents\/","title":{"rendered":"Poland to ban gays from adopting, even as single parents"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>People living in same-sex couples will be barred from adopting children in Poland even as single parents, under a new law from a nationalist ruling party which has made anti-gay policies a major part of its governing platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/category\/daily-quiz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2021<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The resolution reads, \u2018\u2018LGBTIQ persons everywhere in the EU should enjoy the freedom to live and publicly show their sexual orientation and gender identity without fear of intolerance, discrimination or persecution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The move comes as a response against member state Poland\u2019s controversial move to create more than 100 \u2018\u2018LGBTIQ ideology-free zones\u201d around the country since 2019, and more generally against the backsliding of LGBTIQ rights in some EU countries, particularly in Poland and Hungary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A majority of countries in the EU (23\/27) recognises same-sex unions, with 16 of them legally recognising same-sex marriage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poland is part of the small minority that does not acknowledge such relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like Poland, Hungary has also been pushing forward a conservative Catholic social agenda.
