The e-payment system launched with 1,000 hand-held devices and Android-based operating system with fully integrated software will help citizens login securely at their convenience and settle violation notices with proof of payment in their daily routine, they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delhi Police\nCommissioner Amulya Patnaik along with Special CP (Traffic) Taj Hassan and DG\n(National Informatics Centre) Neeta Verma launched the e- payment system\nand e-payment gateway. The new system is likely to result in improved\nprosecution and better road safety standards in Delhi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As important\nparameters related to vehicle ownership and driving licenses are now available\nonline, it will be easier for challan officers to impound stolen vehicles and\ncheck fake documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the\npolice, the devices are of industrial grade and 4G-compliant with dual SIM\nfacility and will have fingerprint biometric capturing capacity. They also have\ndigital payment facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The devices will be\nGPS enabled to track locations of challan officers and violators which will\nhelp in credible prosecution. The camera violation app is also connected to the\ne- payment system,\nso that the data is updated regularly and sent to National Informatics Centre\non real-time basis. This will help in giving the history of a vehicle and its\ndriver to the official, a senior police officer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system is\ndeveloped by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) with key operational and\nlegal inputs from Delhi Police. NIC, in association with SBI, has conducted\nmandatory audit and safety checks for the system of payments via the electronic\nmodes. The project has been commissioned for three years to begin with and\nextension if needed, the officer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system is\ncapable of accepting digilocker-compliant documents which will help the public\nwith hassle-free interaction, as the authenticity of the document will be\npre-verified. The instances of loss of documents in transit will come down\ndrastically, the officer added.<br>\nDuring the testing phase, 6,03,503 challans were issued using e- payment devices\nas a result of which, compounding amount of approximately Rs. 9.5 crore was\ncollected, the officer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SMS notice sent\nto the violator contains details of violation and a link to verify it. The\nviolator can upon satisfaction, pay the fine online. Residents from other\nstates who are fined in Delhi can now pay online and need not visit Delhi for\nmaking the payment, the officer added.<br>\nDuring the trials, 28,024 notices were compounded, out of which 16,369 were\ndone using e-option which amounts to around 58.41 per cent of the notices of\ntraffic violations being compounded using the e-option, the police said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About <\/strong><strong>e-<\/strong><strong>Payment <\/strong><strong>system<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An electronic payment (e-payment), in short, can be simply defined as paying\nfor goods or services on the internet.
