Raksha Mantri praised BRO personnel for working in the most hostile\nand the difficult areas away from their families. He&nbsp; added that the BRO\nhas been rendering commendable services through construction and maintenance of\nroads and bridges in border areas fulfilling the strategic needs of the Defence\nForces. Reiterating the Central Government\u2019s commitment to the development of\nconnectivity in Jammu &amp; Kashmir, he said Prime Minister is regularly\nmonitoring the progress of these projects and funds are being made available\naccordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One Km long Ujh bridge is the\nlongest bridge constructed by BRO and also has the distinction where technology\nof Pre Cast Segmental br with 60 m spans was used. It has been constructed at a\ncost of approxRs 50 crore and was completed within&nbsp; the scheduled time.\nThe bridge is located on Parole-Korepannu-Rajpura road over UjhNallah. Basantar\nbridge has been constructed at a total cost of approxRs 41.7 crore. The bridge\nis located on Rajpura\u2013Madwal\u2013Pangadur\u2013Phulpur road over BasantarNallah. Both\nthese bridges have been constructed under 69 RCC\/13 BRTF of Project Sampark.\nThese bridges will provide smooth connectivity and are vital for the Army for\ndeployment on border areas. These bridges will be a big relief for the local\npeople of border villages of Kathua and Samba sector as road connectivity used\nto get disrupted during Monsoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minister of State for Prime\nMinister&#8217;s Office, Department of Atomic Energy &amp; Department of Space Dr\nJitendra Singh also highlighted the development program of Central Govt and\nPrime Minister ShriNagendraModiji&#8217;s steps for boosting connectivity in Jammu\n&amp; Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Director General Border Roads\nLt Gen HarpalSingh, underlined the contribution of BRO to the nation in far\nflung areas of the country under extremely difficult and harsh conditions.\nAdmiring the contribution of Project Sampark and congratulating all the\nemployees associated with this project, he offered his sincere thanks to Raksha\nMantri, Minister of State, Chief of Army Staff and other dignitaries for their\nsupport and guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event was attended by\nChief of the Army Staff Gen BipinRawat, GOC, 29 Infantry Division Maj Gen YP\nKhandurialongwith many other Army &amp; Civil administration dignitaries.<br>\n<br>\n<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About Ujh bridge:<\/strong><br>Ujh bridge is located in the <strong>Kathua district of Jammu &amp; Kashmir. <\/strong>It is&nbsp;of length 1,000m and is the longest bridge constructed by the BRO. The cost spent for the construction of the bridge was <strong>Rs.50 crore.<\/strong> The bridge has been built on <strong>Parole-Korepannu-Rajpura <\/strong>road over Ujh river.<br> <br><strong>Basantar bridge:<\/strong><br>Basantar bridge is located in <strong>Samba district of Jammu &amp; Kashmir.<\/strong> It is of length of 617m. The cost of the Basantar bridge was <strong>Rs.41.7 crore. <\/strong>The bridge was built on <strong>Rajpura-Madwal-Pangadur-Phulpur<\/strong> road over Basantar river.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Border Roads Organisation (BRO):<\/strong><br>Border Roads Organisation (BRO) was established on <strong>May 1960.<\/strong> It is headquartered at <strong>New Delhi<\/strong>. It functions under the Ministry of Defence. BRO aims to meet the strategic needs of the<strong> armed forces.<\/strong> It develops and maintains the <strong>Operational Road Infrastructure &nbsp;<\/strong>of General Staff in &nbsp;the Border Areas.
