Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nThe Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has issued standard\nspecifications of the ‘Metrolite’ system which will be developed on surface and\nelevated stretches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the ministry, the ‘Metrolite’, which can be developed at a\nlower cost in comparison with existing metro system, will also act as feeder\nsystem to high capacity Metro. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three-coach train will have capacity of carrying 300 passengers. Sources\nsaid the government would provide financial assistance to states to implement\nthe light urban rail transit system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ‘Metrolite’ system will have a dedicated path separating the road\ntraffic with it. For segregation with road traffic, fencing can be provided on\neither side of network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ministry stated that metro rail system being developed at present is of\nhigh capacity which is required for bigger cities with very high ridership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seeing the success of existing metro system, several small cities and towns\nwant rail-based mass rapid transit system, which could be fulfilled by light\nurban rail transit system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In its manifesto, the BJP had promised to expand the coverage of the metro\nnetwork to 50 cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ‘Metrolite’ system will have shelter platforms. Metrolite platforms will\nnot have AFC gates, platform screen doors, X-ray and baggage scanner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Ticket validators could be installed inside the Metrolite train and\nshelter with NCMC \/other ticketing systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“With random checking, heavy penalty shall be levied on passengers\nwithout a valid ticket in the system,” the standard specification of\nMetrolitestated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also stated, “Elevated Metrolite system will be planned only when\nAt-Grade system (surface) is not possible. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Road space occupied at the median shall be maximum 2.2 m for\npiers.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ‘Metrolite’ train will comprise three non-separable coaches with low\nfloor height of about 300-350 mm. Unit length should be of minimum 33 m.The car\nstructure material will be stainless steel or aluminium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The maximum operational speed of the Metrolite is 60 KMPH…In any\ncase, even with failure of On-board signalling, the speed is restricted to 25\nKmph,” it also stated. \n\nThe ministry said respective municipal\ncorporations will identify all possible paths for providing at least single\ntrack operation of Metrolite trains between two parallel roads.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
