RAW\u00b4s Special Secretary VK Johri Appointed as New BSF DG. The order has been issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) that is headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has Home Minister Amit Shah as its member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johri, a 1984-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of\nMadhya Pradesh cadre, is presently serving as the Special Secretary in the\nexternal intelligence agency RAW, under the Cabinet Secretariat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will take over the charge of the Border Security Force\nfrom incumbent Rajni Kanti Mishra, who retires on August 31. The order also\nstated that Johri has been appointed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the\nUnion home ministry with “immediate effect.” <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johri will attain superannuation in September, 2020, the\norder stated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BSF, with a present strength of about 2.5 lakh\npersonnel, is country’s largest border guarding force and is tasked to secure\ntwo of India’s most important and sensitive fronts with Pakistan and\nBangladesh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two other border guarding forces are ITBP (China) and\nSSB (Nepal and Bhutan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
