In the train pink coaches added for women by the Northeast Frontier Railway zone. NF Railway zone has started this unique initiative to earmark a special portion of the SLR coach. This is done to specially help the women passengers with better safety and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This special colour will help the women passenger to easily\nidentify the coach in the platform even during rush hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Eight trains in Rangiya division of the Northeast Frontier\nRailway have begun operations with some pink coaches, exclusively for women<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Section 58 of the Railways Act, 1989 provides for earmarking\nof accommodation for female passengers in trains. Accordingly Indian Railways\nneed to provide second class accommodation for women in the second\nClass-cum-Luggage-cum Guard\u2019s Coach (SLR) in most of the long distance trains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SLR coaches with especially Pink coloured portion for lady\npassengers were placed into operation by the Rangiya Division of NFR in\npassenger trains bearing number 55817 \/ 55818, 55803 \/ 55804 and 55809 \/ 55810\nwhich run between New Bongaigaon and Guwahati. Similar earmarking has also been\ndone in passenger train no 55895 \/ 55896 which runs between Rangiya and\nMurkongselek.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In some trains depending on the nature of the coach the same\nhas been earmarked both for lady passengers as well as Divyangjan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NFR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Pranav Jyoti\nSharma said on Sunday that this colour will help the women passengers to easily\nidentify the coaches even during rush hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharma said that the NFR hopes that the new initiative will\nenhance security of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Railway authorities will deploy RPF and ticket checking\nstaff to stabilise the new system, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Six trains between New Bongaigaon and Guwahati and two\ntrains between Rangiya and Murkongselek have begun operations with the\npink-coloured coaches,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
