Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\nChauhan, a six-time BJP MLA from Ghosi assembly constituency\nin Uttar Pradesh, was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice\nAmreshwar Pratap Sahi of the Patna high court in the presence of chief minister\nNitish Kumar and deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi at Raj Bhavan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Several state ministers, bureaucrats and other dignitaries\nwere also present on the occasion. A number of people from Uttar Pradesh, who\nwere known to Chauhan, were also invited to the swearing-in ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CM Nitish welcomed the new governor by presenting him a\nbouquet after he was administered the oath of office. Chauhan reached Patna by\na special plane on Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chauhan\u2019s elevation to the post of governor has stunned one\nand all. His predecessor Lalji Tandon was sworn in as Bihar governor on August\n23, 2018. People remember him for his contributions, especially in the field of\nhigher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tandon tried to streamline the BEd entrance examination by\nholding a combined test. His initiatives to streamline higher education as\nchancellor of universities were widely appreciated. \u201cDuring his stint, Raj\nBhavan mainly remained a centre of academic activities,\u201d recalled an official,\npreferring anonymity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his stint of less than a year (331 days), Tandon\ntried to bring financial condition of the universities on right track. His\nstint will also be remembered for introducing university management information\nsystem and organizing \u2018shashtrarth\u2019 (debate in Sanskrit) on the pattern of\nShankaracharya and Mandan Mishra.\n\nHe enthused the university heads to adopt\nvillages and laid emphasis on holding convocations in universities on a regular\nbasis.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
