{"id":4269,"date":"2019-08-03T04:49:02","date_gmt":"2019-08-03T04:49:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/?p=4269"},"modified":"2019-08-03T04:49:03","modified_gmt":"2019-08-03T04:49:03","slug":"clean-air-initiative-launched-by-india-and-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/clean-air-initiative-launched-by-india-and-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Clean air initiative Launched by India and UK"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>India and UK<\/strong> launch <strong>clean air initiative<\/strong> in <strong>Bengaluru<\/strong> that would provide a unique air quality measurement system by integrating satellite and sensor data and support India\u2019s transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Aim :<\/em><\/strong> The initiative \u2013 Innovating for Clean Air (IfCA) will identify innovations having potential to improve air quality and contribute to a more detailed localised map of the air quality of Bengaluru through the unique combination of satellite and sensor data, including both on-the-ground and mobile data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme will identify relevant challenges around\nEV-charging infrastructure, grid management and integrating renewable energy to\nensure a sufficient, reliable and clean source of power. It will also\nfacilitate opportunities for Indian and UK innovators to collaborate in\ndeveloping long-lasting relationships to address these challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Led by :<\/em><\/strong> The programme is led by Innovate UK \u2014 part of <strong>UK Research and Innovation<\/strong> (UKRI) \u2014 and is funded by the Newton Fund with matched resources from various key partners in Karnataka and India, like Indian Institute of Science, Enzen, Project Lithium, Confederation of Indian Industries, C40 Cities and Clean Air Platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Other partners :<\/em><\/strong> Other partners include Citizens for Sustainability, World Resources Institute, Indian Institute for Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B), Shakti Foundation, Shell Technology Centre, Global Business Inroads and India Smart Grid Forum. A current UK partner, Earthsense is working in collaboration with the UK Catapults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Catapult network has decided to focus on Bengaluru to\nenhance the progress already made in air quality and electric vehicle\ntransition in Bengaluru.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>UK Research and Innovation India (UKRI) Director Rebecca\nFairbairn said, \u201cUKRI has been working with India for over a decade, focussing\non research that makes a difference to society and to our economies but this is\nthe first time the UK Catapult network, which drives innovation in highly\ntargeted industries has been implemented here and it demonstrates the\ncreativity possible through India-UK partnership.\u201d\n\nBritish Deputy High Commissioner Mc Allister\nsaid, \u201cSuch collaborative initiatives are an example of how the UK and India\ncan work as a joint force for good on innovative solutions, and can bring the\nbest of our research communities, academia and businesses together to address\nshared challenges, such as clean air.\u201d\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>India and UK launch clean air initiative in Bengaluru that would provide a unique air quality measurement system by integrating satellite and sensor data and support India\u2019s transition to Electric Vehicles (EVs).
