The medicines are to be tested with three testing phases.\nBased on the results the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will\ndecide and set the price of the vaccines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reason for ICMR’s new TB vaccines:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
To treat TB multi-drug course that usually spans six months\nis usuallu involved. Scientists from ICMR suggested that new TB vaccines other\nthan BCG (Bacille Calmette-Guerin), which is 100 years old, is needed to treat\nTB as it has been partially effective in protecting infants and young children\nand it provides poor protection against pulmonary disease in adolescents and\nadults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
About TB in India:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Data from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare\u2019s Central TB\ndivision said that the TB incidence in India has touched almost 2.8 million\nevery year along with drug-resistant TB incidence at 1,47,000 annually. It also\nsaid that around 27% of the world\u2019s TB incidences are from India. It has marked\nthe highest share at a global level.
