He\nhad done his Bachelor of Commerce from the Maharaja Sayajirao University of\nBaroda (Vadodara). Following his graduation, he spent nearly 10 years in\nMalaysia, handling the business of his uncle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bhatt started his\njournalism career in the late 1960s as a financial journalist in Mumbai. He\nlater became a freelance journalist and also wrote columns for various\npublications. Bhatt gradually rose to prominence as a prolific columnist who\nwrote on diverse subjects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He must have\nwritten more than 45,000 articles in the course of his journalistic career.\nBhatt was also the founding editor of one of the leading Gujarati magazines,\nAbhiyan, which he launched with his wife Sheela, also a veteran journalist and\nmember of the Editors Guild of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ashu, a journalist\nwho considers Bhatt his mentor, said the veteran journalist had a tremendous\npassion for writing and reading articles on diverse subjects. He also spoke of\nBhatt\u2019s wish to write a novel. \u201cHe had never written a novel. And on his last\nbirthday, July 15, he told me that he wanted to jointly write a novel with me,\u201d\nAshu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prime Minister\nNarendra Modi expressed grief over Bhatt\u2019s demise. In a tweet, Modi said, \u201cThe\nworld of readers has suffered a big loss due to the death of columnist and\njournalist Kanti Bhatt whose column used to make the mornings informative.\u201d\n\nUnion Home Minister Amit Shah, too, expressed\nhis condolences. \u201cShree Kantibhai Bhatt has a priceless contribution to\nGujarati journalism and column writing. Kantibhai impressed a number of\ngenerations through his personality and writing skills.
