The HMLT was co-chaired by Shri Amit Shah, Home Minister of India and Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan, Minister for Home Affairs of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Home Minister congratulated the visiting dignitary on his\nresumption of the office as Home Minister of Bangladesh for a second term, and\nreiterated India\u2019s full support for Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina\u2019s\ndevelopment agenda. Both the Ministers reiterated the significance attached to\nthe bilateral relationship, which is forged in the 1971 Liberation War, which\ngoes far beyond a strategic partnership. Today, our ties are a role model for\ngood neighbourly relations across the world. They are rooted in history,\nculture, language and shared values of democracy, secularism, development\ncooperation and countless other commonalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the meeting, the Ministers expressed satisfaction\nthat both countries are working closer than ever before in every sector,\nincluding security and border management. They reiterated their commitment to\nkeep the borders friendly, and in this regard appreciated the close\nco-operation between their border guarding forces. Home Minister appreciated\nBangladesh\u2019s policy of not allowing use of its territory by extremists and\ninsurgents for perpetrating violence in other countries including India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gamut of issues related to bilateral security\nco-operation were discussed during the meeting. Both the Home Ministers\nreaffirmed the need to further curb the menace of trans-border crimes, and therefore\nagreed to the need for greater co-operation to achieve our aim of a secure\nborder. Both sides also reviewed the pending issues related to security and\ninfrastructure at the borders, and agreed to take steps towards the expedited\nresolution of these matters. Home Minister Shri Amit Shah also raised India\u2019s\nconcern regarding the illicit movement of undocumented persons across the\nborder, with a view to find solutions to this problem especially in North East\nIndia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Indian Home Minister assured the Home Minister of\nBangladesh of India\u2019s continuing support for safe and speedy repatriation of\nthe displaced Myanmar citizens sheltered in Bangladesh, for whom India has\nprovided humanitarian assistance in four tranches since September 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leaders also looked forward to enhancing cooperation in\nsimplifying people to people contact and travel for business, health and\ntourism, including through promoting connectivity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Seventh meeting of the India-Bangladesh Home Minister Level Talks (HMLT) was held in New Delhi on 07 August 2019.
