Pakistan\u2019s Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Thursday\nsaid that Islamabad had decided to stop the Samjhauta Express train service\nimmediately in response to India\u2019s decision to change the status of Kashmir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Ahmad announced the stoppage at a news conference in\nIslamabad. He also said he would not allow a resumption of the train service\ntill such time he was the Railways Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, Northern Railway spokesperson Deepak Kumar said the\ntrain had not been suspended. \u201cThe Samjhauta Express train has not been\nsuspended. It will run,\u201d Mr. Kumar said. The clarification came after the train\nfrom Lahore was stopped at Wagah by Pakistani authorities. After several hours\u2019\ndelay, the train with the Indian crew reached Atari at 5.15 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
