China will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its ruling party \u201cthe Communist Party\u201d founding on 1st July 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CPC was founded by Mao Zedong and his associates in 1921.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It fought bloody wars at home both against political rivals and the Japanese occupation and took over power in 1949 forming the People\u2019s Republic of China (PRC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CPC has undergone a total ideological makeover after Mao\u2019s death in 1976.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the brink of collapse after Mao\u2019s disastrous ideological experiments like the 1958 \u201cGreat Leap Forward\u201d and the 1966 ”Cultural Revolution”, which resulted in the deaths of over 1.5 million people, the CPC was revived by moderate \u201cparamount leader\u201d Deng Xiaoping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
