Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Chemical & Fertilizers and Ports, Shipping & Waterways recently visited Zydus Biotech Park at Ahmedabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Zydus Cadila is the developer of the \u2018ZyCov-D\u2019 which will be world\u2019s first DNA-based Covid-19 vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ZyCoV-D is a DNA plasmid based COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Cadila Healthcare with support from the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The plasmids here are coded with the instructions to make the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2. Vaccination gives the code to cells in the recipient\u2019s body that begin making the spike protein of the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

eSanjeevani crossed another milestone by completing 70 lakh consultations<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Union Health Ministry’s National Telemedicine Service \u2013 eSanjeevani has crossed another milestone by completing 7 million (70 lakh) consultations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

eSanjeevaniAB-HWC \u2013 the doctor-to-doctor telemedicine platform has been implemented at around 21,000 Health and Wellness Centres as spokes and over 1900 hubs, which are located in District Hospitals and Medical Colleges in around 30 States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The doctor-to-doctor telemedicine platform has served over 32 lakh patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Defence too has hosted a National OPD on eSanjeevaniOPD, where over 100 veteran doctors and specialists – roped in by the Ministry of Defence, serve patients across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KVIC launched \u201cBOLD\u201d to reduce desertification and provide livelihood<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) recently launched a project named \u2018BOLD\u2019 to reduce desertification and provide livelihood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project aims to boost the income of the tribal people and solve environmental concerns such as land desertification and land degradation by creating bamboo-based green patches in drylands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Project BOLD or Bamboo Oasis on Lands in Drought aims to create bamboo-based green patches of land in arid and semi-arid zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first of its kind exercise in India, project BOLD was launched on June 4 from the tribal village Nichla Mandwa in Udaipur, Rajasthan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the project, 5000 saplings of special bamboo species \u2013 Bambusa Tulda and Bambusa Polymorpha from Assam were planted on approximately 16 acres of vacant arid Gram Panchayat land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centre launched six technology innovation platforms<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Central government of India recently launched six technology innovation platforms as part of India\u2019s push for domestic manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to create global manufacturing champions in the country and attract firms exploring a China-plus-one strategy for production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes in the backdrop of production linked incentive (PLI) schemes launched last year that seek to create global manufacturing majors in India by removing sectoral disabilities and creating economies of scale to develop complete component eco-systems in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February invited global firms to take advantage of the \u20b91.97 trillion PLI schemes for 13 sectors and expand their manufacturing in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NASA’s NEOWISE telescope got a mission extension of two years<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

NASA\u2019s Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (NEOWISE) will continue its hunt for asteroids and comets including objects that could pose a hazard to Earth for two more years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This mission extension means NASA\u2019s prolific near-Earth object (NEO) hunting space telescope will continue operations until June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally launched as the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mission in December 2009, the space telescope surveyed the entire sky in infrared wavelengths, detecting asteroids, dim stars, and some of the faintest galaxies visible in deep space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WISE completed its primary mission when it depleted its cryogenic coolant and it was put into hibernation in February 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Observations resumed in December 2013 when the space telescope was repurposed by NASA\u2019s Planetary Science Division as \u201cNEOWISE\u201d to identify asteroids and comets throughout the solar system, with special attention to those that pass close to Earth\u2019s orbit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 30 member Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children and Youth Affairs led by Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe visited Leh for 3 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After reorganization of erstwhile JK State, newly created Union Territory Ladakh is focussing on strengthening education institutions, CBSE affiliation to existing schools and rationalization of schools to improve Student-teacher ratio and educational infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ladakh has 22 thousand students in 907 Government schools and over 29 thousand students in 112 private schools. UT Administration is spending 3.59 lakh rupees to educate each student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Committee visited various public and private schools in Leh and hold meetings with UT officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MoS Muraleedharan to visit Guatemala, Jamaica, The Bahamas<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Minister of State (MoS), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), V Muraleedharan is paying an official visit to Guatemala, Jamaica and The Bahamas from 5-10 July 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guatemala, a Central American country south of Mexico, is home to volcanoes, rainforests and ancient Mayan sites. The capital, Guatemala City, features the stately National Palace of Culture and the National Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamaica, a Caribbean island nation, has a lush topography of mountains, rainforests and reef-lined beaches. Many of its all-inclusive resorts are clustered in Montego Bay, with its British-colonial architecture, and Negril, known for its diving and snorkeling sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bahamas, known officially as the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, is a country within the Lucayan Archipelago of the West Indies in the Atlantic. It takes up 97% of the Lucayan Archipelago’s land area and is home to 88% of the archipelago’s population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mariyappan Thangavelu named flag-bearer for Tokyo Paralympics<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mariyappan Thangavelu has named the flag-bearer of the Indian contingent in the Tokyo Paralympics, which begins on August 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thangavelu, who is defending the T-42 gold he had won in 2016 Rio Paralympics during the August 24 to September 5 showpiece in Tokyo, was picked for the honour by the executive committee of the national body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 25-year-old Thangavelu, who was conferred with the Khel Ratna, the country\u2019s highest sporting award, last year is one of the 24 para-athletes picked by the selection committee for the Tokyo Paralympics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A total of 72 para-athletes, including 18 female players, took part in the selection trials held here on June 29 and 30. India has been granted 24 slots, including four women athletes, by the World Para Athletics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narendra Modi inaugurated the Co-WIN Global Conclave<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated the CoWin Global Conclave as India presented the indigenously developed CoWIN platform to the world at the virtual global meet of representatives from 142 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan chaired the inaugural session organized to share India\u2019s learnings and experiences with regards to planning, strategizing and executing the world\u2019s largest vaccination drive through Co-WIN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Global Conclave was jointly organized by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and National Health Authority (NHA) with an objective to extend the Co-WIN platform as a digital public good to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI)<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Government released the regulations and poster for the 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The festival will be held in Goa from 20th -28th November 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is reckoned as one of Asia’s oldest and India’s biggest international film festivals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 52nd edition of IFFI will be held in a hybrid format considering the success of the 51st edition in January 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Festival is being organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India in collaboration with the State Government of Goa and the Indian Film Industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IFFI is recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). Every year, the festival celebrates some of the finest cinematic works and showcases a bouquet of the best films from India and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Govt signed MOU with YATRA.COM to strengthen Tourism Industry<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ministry of Tourism signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Yatra.com to strengthen the Hospitality & Tourism Industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was organized under the arrangement between Ministry of Tourism and Quality Council of India (QCI) for implementing measures for strengthening the Indian Hospitality & Tourism Industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary objective of this MoU is to provide extensive visibility to accommodation units, which have self-certified themselves on SAATHI (System for Assessment, Awareness & Training for the Hospitality Industry) on the OTA platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The MoU also outlines both parties to encourage Units to register on NIDHI and thereby on SAATHI and encourage local tourism Industry with appropriate safeguards for curbing spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The idea is also to gather more information on accommodation units in order to gain actionable insights & designing evidence based & targeted policy measures and to promote safe, honourable and sustainable tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Draft Trafficking in Persons (Prevention, Care and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2021<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Women and Child Welfare invited suggestions and comments for its draft Trafficking in Persons (Prevention, Care and Rehabilitation) Bill, 2021 which it has released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The law, once enacted, will extend to all citizens inside as well as outside India and a foreign national or a stateless person who has his or her residence in India at the time of commission of offence under this Act<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scope of the Bill vis a vis offenders will also include defence personnel and government servants, doctors and paramedical staff or anyone in a position of authority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exploitation has been defined to include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation including pornography, any act of physical exploitation, forced labour or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or forced removal of organs, illegal clinical drug trials or illegal bio-medical research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bill also extends beyond the protection of women and children as victims to now include transgenders as well as any person who may be a victim of trafficking<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Property bought via such income as well as used for trafficking can now be forfeited with provisions set in place, similar to that of the money laundering Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4th Phase of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna in WB<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Food Corporation of India (FCI), West Bengal region is fully geared up for implementing the Fourth Phase of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Six lakh Metric Tonnes of food grains was handed over to the State Government for distribution during the month of May and June in West Bengal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Union Government announced further extension of PMGKAY for another five months till November 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has allocated 9.02 lakh MTs of wheat and 6.01 lakh MTs of Rice for distribution under the fourth phase of the flagship scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Government has been requested to make special efforts to encourage the migrant NFSA beneficiaries to use the facility of portability under the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanjay Dhotre chaired the 8th BRICS Education Ministers meeting<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Minister of State for Education Sanjay Dhotre chaired the Meeting of the 8th BRICS Education Ministers in virtual mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This meeting was held as part of the 13th BRICS Summit being hosted by India this year. Education Ministers from the five BRICS member states attend the meeting along with senior officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the International Governing Board, IGB of the BRICS Network Universities met on 29th of last month, to take a look at the progress made by member states under this initiative so far and discuss ways to take it further.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The IGB stressed upon the need to promote development of mechanisms to enhance academic and research collaborations among BRICS member states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Advisory Council for Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC)<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has initiated a project on Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). The task has been assigned to Quality Council of India (QCI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ONDC aims at promoting open networks developed on open sourced methodology, using open specifications and open network protocols independent of any specific platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ONDC is expected to digitize the entire value chain, standardize operations, promote inclusion of suppliers, derive efficiencies in logistics and enhance value for consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An advisory council has been constituted to advise the Government on measures needed to design and accelerate adoption of ONDC. Additional Secretary (ITeC), DPIIT shall be the convenor of the Advisory Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pushkar Singh Dhami sworn in as new Uttarakhand CM<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
