Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\u201cWe want farmers to have affordable access to cutting-edge\ntechnology at their doorsteps,\u201d says a senior Agriculture Ministry official.\n\u201cThere are now more than 38,000 custom hiring centres (CHCs) across the country,\nwhich rent out 2.5 lakh pieces of farm equipment every year. By the end of the\nmonth, we plan to launch a new mobile app to efficiently connect farmers with\nthese CHCs, just like Uber connects you to cabs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CHC app is already open for registrations by the\nfarmers, societies and entrepreneurs who run these centres. So far, almost\n26,800 CHCs have registered to offer more than one lakh pieces of equipment for\nhire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Once the app is officially launched, farmers who wish to\nhire equipment can register using their names, addresses and mobile numbers,\nand then punch in their requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSay, I need a rotovator with tractor for one acre of land.\nThe app will show me the CHCs which have the equipment available within five,\n20 and 50 km of my location, with their rates,\u201d explained the official. \u201cI can\nthen call the CHC or just use the app to book the equipment at a specific time\nand location, and it will turn up just like an Uber.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Feedback from both the CHC and the farmers contributes to a\nrating system, allowing customers to make informed decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Ministry\u2019s tractors app will also create an invaluable database for policy-makers, who can track the use and cost of equipment. The system would also help to track the usage of new technology that the government wants to promote, such as the Happy Seeder that aims to prevent stubble burning that causes air pollution, or solar dryers that can help farmers process and preserve their produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe have already done very successful demo runs in\nChhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Punjab,\u201d said the official.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trringo Role in Karnataka: <\/h4>\n\n\n\n
Trringo is the growing overall tractor sector in India that\nstands to win big in farming equipment by Mahindra groups launched in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mahindra groups won a tender from the state government and\nhaving Trringo at 101 hubs in Karnataka .Each hub will house five tractors and\nwith charging a 10 percent commission from its franchise partners. With the\nKarnataka government setting aside Rs 175 crore to bear 75 per cent of the\ncapital costs in every taluka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Trials of Ministry<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
The ministry of agriculture have already completed\nsuccessful trials in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Punjab. Gold\nFarms has raised a $2 Mn seed funding from Mahindra & Mahindra and Infuse\nVentures in late 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
