The US President Joe Biden has nominated Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to be the US ambassador to India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If confirmed by the Senate, Garcetti, 50, would replace Kenneth Juster, who served as the US Ambassador to India during the Trump administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eric M Garcetti has been the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles since 2013, following 12 years as a member of the City Council, including six as Council President.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He currently chairs LA Metro, the country’s second-busiest transit agency, which is building or extending 15 new transit lines, and shifting to an all-electric fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Garcetti is the current Chair of C40 Cities \u2013 a network of 97 of the world\u2019s biggest cities taking bold climate action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
