The exhibition was inaugurated by the Chairman, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Shri Rakesh Gupta here today. The exhibition is open to public for two days (Aug 11-12, 2019).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gkseries.com\/blog\/current-affairs-quiz-2019-daily-gk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daily Current Affairs Quiz 2019<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition is coveringtechnologies developed by the\nBhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Raja Ramanna Centre for Advance\nTechnology, Indore and other Units ofDepartment of Atomic Energy (DAE), which\nare useful for the common man in day-to-day life e.g. in the field of health,\nagriculture, water, food security and environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The details of the exhibits are as follows:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Health: In health sector there are three segments i) Development\nof Radio Pharmaceuticals ii) Production &amp; Distribution iii) its\nimplementation for diagnosis and therapeutic application. The treatment of\nCancer is managed by Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), a fully autonomous aided\ninstitution of DAE, provides comprehensive treatment to cancer patients.\nMedical devices for Tele-ECG, Bhabhatron- A Radiation tele-therapy machine,\nscreening of TB and Cancer are on display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Agriculture:<\/strong> DAE\nhas developed 44 high yielding seed varieties by inducing mutationto suitlocal\nweather conditionsacross the country. DAEhas also developed technologies of\nfertilizer production frombio-sludge and encourages organic farming. The\ndisease resistant, low maturity period and high yielding crops have been well\naccepted by the farmers. Rural technologies are also being made available to\nrural youth through \u2018AKRUTI\u2019 programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Water:<\/strong> DAE has\ndeveloped technologies for clean waterto fulfill departmental requirements and\nas spin-off developed many techniques which finds applications in ultra-filtration\nmembrane, RO membrane, multistage flash evaporation and water hydrology based\non radiotracers. Low cost water filters for removal of all contamination from\ndrinking water have been displayed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Environment:<\/strong> DAE\ntechnologies are findinga lot of applications for Swatch Bharat Mission where\nbio-methanization&amp; Urban Sludge Hygienization technologies are being\ndeployed across the country. \u201cNisargruna\u201d plant is a bio- Methanization plant\nfor digesting kitchen food waste and green vegetable wastes from agriculture\nmarkets to Methane gas which can be used for cooking\/generating electricity or\neven for running biogas vehicles. This plant can digest animal waste from\nslaughter house also.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While inaugurating the exhibition, Shri Rakesh Gupta\nexpressed his happiness that such exhibition is being organized in New Delhi.\nHe said that these technologies are helpful in day to day life for common\npeople. He added that Government officials act as opinion leaders, so they\nshould visit the exhibition and understand these technologies. Shri Gupta\nemphasized that these technologies should be adopted in the whole country at a\nlarge scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;The Secretary, DAE,\nDr K. N. Vyas reviewed the preparations for exhibition yesterday. The former\nSecretaries of DAE, Dr Anil Kakodkar, Dr M R Srinivasan were present. The\nformer Secretary DST and member of Atomic Energy Commission, Dr B Rama Rao,\nalso visited exhibits, along with CMD, NPCIL, Shri S. K.
